Terms of Use
The terms of using this site and applying.
By using westfamilyscholarship.com or submitting an application, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you are under 18, please review them with a parent or guardian.
Effective date: October 17, 2026
About these terms
These terms are between you and The West Family Scholarship Fund (“the Fund,” “we,” “us”), a family scholarship program offered in partnership with Capital Repertory Theatre, 251 North Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12207. The Fund is not currently a registered nonprofit organization. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle the information you submit.
Eligibility
To apply, you must meet the eligibility requirements published on the How to Apply page at the time you apply, including your school level, residence in an eligible ZIP code, field of study and minimum GPA. Currently, you must be a high school senior or a full-time freshman at a New York State college or university, live in ZIP code 12202, 12206 or 12207, be majoring (or plan to major) in a field related to the arts or the business of theatre, and have a GPA of at least 2.9. If you are under 18, you should have a parent’s or guardian’s permission to apply, and you must give their name and email address on the application so we can send them a confirmation. Eligibility requirements may be updated from one award cycle to the next.
Your application
- All information and documents you submit must be true, complete and your own, and the personal statement must be your own work.
- You must submit your application by the published deadline. Applications can’t be edited after they are submitted.
- We may ask you for documents that confirm the information in your application, such as an official transcript or proof of residency.
- We may disqualify an application, or withdraw or reclaim an award, if information turns out to be false or misleading, or if the eligibility or renewal requirements are not met.
Selection and awards
- Submitting an application does not guarantee an award. The number of awards, if any, is decided each cycle.
- The scholarship committee reviews applications and makes all selection decisions at its sole discretion. Decisions are final.
- The award is $5,000 a year. Renewal for later years depends on the conditions described on this site, including maintaining a B average. Awards are paid by check directly to the recipient’s school. Award recipients also receive a work internship with Capital Repertory Theatre (theREP).
- Award recipients are responsible for any taxes that may apply to the award.
- We will not publish a recipient’s name, photo or statement without their permission (and a parent’s or guardian’s permission if they are under 18).
Changes to the program
We may change, suspend or cancel the scholarship, its eligibility requirements, deadlines or award amounts at any time, including for an award cycle that is already open. If we make a significant change to an open cycle, we will post it on this site.
Your materials
You keep ownership of your personal statement and other materials you submit. By submitting them, you allow the Fund and its scholarship committee to copy, store and review them for the purpose of evaluating your application and administering the scholarship.
